Men’s Basketball Outlasts Southwestern in OT for Fifth Straight Win
The Santiago Canyon College men's basketball team looked to extend its winning streak to five straight on Tuesday as they traveled to Chula Vista, CA to take on the Southwestern College Jaguars in non-conference action. Four of the Hawk's five started landed in double-digits as they defeated the Jaguars, 87-83, in overtime.
Leading the way for the Hawks was freshman guard Tony Colley who bucketed 18 points to go along with seven rebounds. He made it to the charity stripe four times and cashed in on three opportunities.
Sophomore point guard Kai Smith had another outstanding offensive showing by dropping 15 points which came with five rebounds, two assists and a steal. It is the fourth-consecutive game he landed in double-digit scoring. Sophomore guard Dane Kiefer came off the bench and dropped 15 points highlighted by a 3-for-5 showing beyond the three-point line. It was his first double-digit output on the season so far.
Sophomore guard Joey Longo continued to make an impact as seen in 13 points while recording five rebounds and a pair of assists. Freshman guard Eli Arthurton backed him with 14 points and four rebounds, while sophomore guard Isaiah Arthurton led the team with six assists to go along with seven points.
