Cuyamaca College has named Cuauhtemoc “Temo” Carboni as the new Dean of Athletics, Kinesiology and Health Education. Carboni had most recently been at Imperial Valley College.
The Pacific Coast Athletic Conference is planning a full schedule for the fall following the announcement from the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) this past month that the state will return to full action in the fall. The PCAC missed the entire 2020-21 seasons due to COVID-19.

For the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic forced the shutdown of the school and all competitions in March of 2020, San Diego City College student-athletes and coaches were allowed back on campus in April for socially distanced and masked conditioning workouts.

SAN MARCOS, CA (3/26/2021) -- A year after the cancellation of the baseball and softball seasons due to COVID-19, the two teams returned to campus this week for Phase One of Resocialization, following the California Community College guidelines. During this phase, the teams are in pods of 10 or less and are only allowed to do conditioning drills with no equipment. These two teams will be in Phase One for two weeks before moving onto Phase Two, assuming there are no positive cases of COVID.
An extensive, 18-month renovation of the athletic track and field at MiraCosta's Oceanside Campus is near completion, replacing an outdated track first built in the the early 1980's with a modern walking/jogging track and world-class soccer and rugby field that meets size requirements for international competitions, while providing additional practice space. The renovation also providded for a new, 2,100 square foot Field House with team rooms, an office, equipment storage, changing rooms and ADA-compliant restrooms.

Chelsea Davis has been named the head coach for the women's soccer program. Davis comes to Palomar from San Diego Surf, one of the top club soccer teams in the county. Prior to coaching at the competitive club level, Davis was at the University of San Francisco, where she was an assistant for two years.
It is with great sadness and deep regret that San Diego Mesa College announces the passing of one of the greatest long jumpers in history, Arnie Robinson, at the age of 72. Arnie Paul Robinson, Jr. had a nearly life-long connection to Mesa College as a student, a coach and a Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient. He lived in San Diego and began his track career as a stand-out athlete at Morse High School. In 1967, he enrolled at Mesa College, where he set school records in the long jump, high jump, and triple jump for track and field.
SACRAMENTO - The CCCAA Board of Directors voted on Friday morning to continue forward with the Contingency Plan, which provides the CCCAA a framework for a return to competition this spring, while also providing decision-making guidance for institutions.
